Savela Family Scoop: Week Three!

Kinley is growing too fast for our liking. She is already three weeks old and it feels like just yesterday we were bringing her home! She is awake slightly more during the day now than she was last week. She will stay up for about an hour at a time and do that 3-4 times a day. She really does not like her hands to be confined in a swaddle at this point. In fact one night, I actually had to let one of her hands be free because she would not stay asleep because she was fighting to get her arm out so much. I tried to just let her fight it out, but as soon as I let it out she went right to sleep! We have been lucky because she is sleeping 3-4 hour stretches at night!

She is starting to focus on objects with her eyes. She looks at more than just the wall now and really focuses. She has started to enjoy spending time on her play mat. She does look at the toys, but mostly just focuses on the light. She also is starting to respond to sound where she will turn her head where she hears the noise coming from. It is not consistent yet, but she does it once in a while.

We attempted another shopping trip this week. This time we had to go to two stores. After the first store she woke up, so I fed her. She then didn't want to go back in her carseat, so I just carried her around the second store. That worked out fine and the second trip was much more successful than the first! Later that night Kinley got to meet Brian. She loved snuggling in his arms!

We also took a trip up to NH to visit Grandma and Grandpa! Kinley got to meet Karen, Daimon, Tyra, Audrey, and Nana May. She also got to meet her favorite horse, Quinn! We brought Kinley's bassinet mattress for her to sleep on in a drawer at Grandma and Grandpa's. Unfortunately, the drawer was too small. So, we improvised and she slept in my doll cradle from when I was little! Luckily she fit and she didn't complain that it was uncomfortable. Although I think next time we will definitely have to bring her pack n' play!
