Savela Family Scoop: Week One!

We can't believe Kinley has already been ours for one whole week! Time sure flies when you have a newborn. Lucky for us Kinley likes to sleep...a LOT! Unfortunately, until she gains back her birth weight, we have to still wake her up every 3 hours to eat. One night Mommy did not wake up in 3 hours, but Kinley slept 5! That was good for her, but sure made Mommy nervous once she did wake up and realize how long they both had slept. Kins has been doing really well sleeping in her own room. She even naps a lot during the day, but we have her sleep in different areas of the house. We hope that will help her learn to sleep anywhere she goes since we travel so much. Our favorite thing is to watch her smile in her sleep..she must be having some good dreams :)

Kinley had her first doctor's appointment with her pediatrician on Tuesday. She said she is perfect and she has already started gaining weight! When we left the hospital she weighed 6lbs 14oz and her first day home she had gained an ounce. That is really good because many times it can take a week or longer to start gaining the weight back.

We started using cloth diapers as soon as we got home from the hospital and we all absolutely love them. Kinley seems so much more comfortable in them than disposables. She does love to pee as soon as you start to change her though..good thing she's not a boy or we would have had a few showers by now! You'll have to check back often for pictures of her fluffy bum!

Kinley also had her first real bath today! Lucky for us her umbilical cord fell off in only 4 days (normally 7-10 days). We still only gave her a sponge bath to give it a little extra time to heal. However, today we started using her tub and she loved it. She even liked water being poured over her head.

Kinley was able to meet a few more people just in this first week! She met: Uncle Shawn, Auntie Susie, Auntie Karen, Uncle Brendan, Ryan, Auntie Liz, Uncle Bill, Jimmy, Jennifer, Joanne, and Joe!
