Nine Weeks/Two Months!

Kinley has officially reached the two month mark! She had her two month appointment yesterday, which included 3 shots :( The poor little thing took them like a champ, only crying when the shot was actually inserted. After all 3 shots were done (1 in one leg and 2 in the other), I scooped her right up and she stopped crying. She did become a little sleepy after her shots and was mildly fussy, but overall I think she handled them pretty well. At her check-up, she weighed 11 pounds 6.5 ounces (57th percentile). Exactly 2 pounds more than her 1 month check-up. She was 22.5 inches long (55.9th percentile), which is 2 inches longer than when she was born. Her head circumference was 39cm..not that that really means anything to anyone! Her doctor said she was progressing very well and she could be a "poster child for 2 month olds". Although she may say this to every parent, it still made us feel good :).

This week we attempted a couple more shopping trips. Kinley did a little better, but sometimes still wants to be held rather than being pushed in the carriage. I did try using the carrier with her, but she just doesn't like it. Hopefully as she gets older she will be more comfortable in it. She continues to do well with tummy time and is really starting to enjoy it more. She now thinks it is funny that she can roll over and not have to stay on her tummy so long. She does use her head to help with momentum to roll, but she has been using her arm and leg to really help along with the actual roll.

Of course we spent some time at the pool this week. Except this time, we got to enjoy it with CAKES! Charlotte got to come swimming too! She loves to look at Kinley and gets so excited to see her :) Kinley is not quite sure what to make of another human that is almost the same size yet.

Kinley also got to spend her last night in her cradle! Grandpa completed her crib and came down to set it up. It came out awesome and looks absolutely amazing. Kinley slept in it for the first time last night and you could just tell how much more comfortable she was on a thicker mattress and with more wiggle room. There were a couple times in the last week or so that Kinley would wiggle herself to the edge of the cradle and wake herself up because her face was squished against the bars. She was also leaving indents in the mattress where her head was. She is just growing up too fast!

At two months, Kinley is still very serious most of the time. We are able to sneak a smile out of her, but it does take some work and lots of silly voices and faces right now. She does follow sounds and is starting to track toys visually as well when you move them. She is becoming happier when put down on her own, either in the swing or on her play mat. She definitely focuses on the toys and sometimes even swats at them. She eats like a champ! She doesn't care if she is nursing or using a bottle and goes between the two smoothly. She even drinks a pumped bottle cold! This is handy when we are out and don't have access to a heating source. She bears weight on her legs and even does "squats" with Daddy. She still doesn't use her pacifier much, but it does help if she uses it after eating to spit up less. You really have to hold it in her mouth for her though. She has started to really suck on her hand to let you know she's hungry, rather than just crying. Of course, if you don't feed her quick enough, crying is still the surefire way she will get the attention she wants! She still absolutely loves the water and her bath. She goes in the tub every night, most of the time without soap, just to calm her down. She is sleeping through the night mostly, and even when she doesn't she is waking up after 7 or 8 hours. After a quick feeding she goes back down for the remainder of the night. She does sleep during the day, although the time and length is a little more sporadic. This will all work itself out as she gets used to being awake more and more during the day!
