This week we had a few adventures! We finished up our visit at Cape Cod and made a pitstop in Acushnet on our way home to visit with my Dad, Grandpa, and Great Auntie Lola. It's always fun for people to see how quickly Kinley is growing and changing, even though they see her so often!
On Monday, Kinley and I attempted grocery shopping.
Anyone else feel like the grocery store is the least mom friendly store?!?! I mean of all places to make it nearly impossible to bring your children..picture this: I go to grocery store with my 6+ week old baby in her carseat...carseat does not fit well into front of carriage..put seat in back of carriage..now there is no room for groceries...move seat back up to front and try to hold it as I push. At 5' 1"tall I proceed to run into 3 different middle aisle displays that I cannot see over the carseat. Baby wakes up...have to take baby out of carseat and feed her a bottle. Now shopping through the store while holding Kinley, feeding her, and trying to push the carriage. Solution...someone needs to invent a carriage that can safely hold the infant seat at an appropriate height! Needless to say, we made it and next time grocery shopping will have to be done sans kiddo.
Tuesday, Addison and I had our first date since having Kinley. My Auntie Debbie, Uncle George, and Alanna so graciously spent some time with Kinley so we could go out for dinner! It was the first time I had ever been away from Kinley since she was born. Of course I missed her, but I knew she was in good hands which made leaving her a little easier. We went to a fantastic new Chinese Buffet and even got a little shopping in after.
Our weekend was super busy! On Friday we celebrated my cousin Ryan's 9th birthday with a pool party at my Uncle Ricky's house. Of course we love spending time at the pool (luckily this summer we have really gotten to spend a lot of time there). Saturday we went to a baby shower for my cousin Jen. She is due in September and will be having a little girl as well. This will be the third baby girl for the Lage Family in just about a year! This is going to make for some great family gatherings :) Kinley spent the first half of the shower with Grandpa and Great-Grandpa babysitting her at Great-Grandpa's house. She did well for it only being her second time away from Mommy.
Kinley is doing great. She still has Acid Reflux, but if we are very careful about positioning during and after feedings she spits up a lot less. Although, she does continue to have some instances of being very uncomfortable. She is doing well with tummy time, but much prefers to lay on her back at this point and stare at the toys. She is really starting to focus on the toys while she lays on her playmat. Kinley does not like the car very much, which makes the long drives a bit of a challenge. Hopefully she gets used to it soon!
